A Simple 7-Day GLP-1 Meal Plan for Beginners

Written by Imaya, GLP-1 Living · Not medical advice · How we write · Updated October 24, 2026

The hardest part of the first weeks on a GLP-1 is not willpower, it is deciding what to eat when nothing sounds good and your appetite is tiny. A simple weekly plan takes that decision off your plate.

Here is a beginner-friendly way to think about the week, plus a sample day. It is a planning idea, not medical advice, so adjust it with your own care team.

The three rules that make a GLP-1 week work

  • Protein first: start every meal with the protein and eat it before the rest.
  • Small portions: plan less food than you think, and keep easy snacks ready.
  • Keep it boring on purpose: a few repeatable meals beat a long list you never cook.

What a beginner day can look like

  • Breakfast: Greek yogurt with berries and a spoon of granola.
  • Lunch: cottage cheese or tuna with crackers and tomato.
  • Dinner: baked chicken or fish with rice and a vegetable.
  • Snack: a boiled egg, a cheese stick or a small protein shake.

How much should a beginner eat?

Most beginner plans land around smaller portions with a protein source at every meal and enough fluids through the day. Many people do well with three small meals and one or two snacks, skipping a snack on low-appetite days. Your own calorie and protein needs are individual, so confirm them with your doctor or dietitian.
